My Experience Meeting Danny Brown in Vancouver

On October 6th, 2016, Danny Brown came to Vancouver, BC for his “Atrocity Exhibition” tour. This was a great opportunity for me to sneak my way into the industry and give Danny this song I made for him. My goal was not to promote my music, I simply wanted Danny Brown to listen to the track “Psychedelic.”

I know that Danny Brown doesn’t give a fuck about me, that’s alright! I didn’t care if he used my song on his next album. Danny Brown doesn’t need me, I know that. All I wanted was for him to see the picture I painted of him through audio.

Whether he gave my song a chance, I’m not sure. I didn’t have much time to talk to Danny. His buddy was trying to get him to wrap the photo session up as soon as possible.

I’m not gonna lie though, I stumbled on my words like a lil bitch. I said, “Hey.. ugh Danny.. ugh I made this song for you man… you gotta give it a chance”

Danny responds with a, “Oh, cool man.” and his buddy gives me this look like, “BRO, just take the fucking photo and get on with your day.”

So then, I strapped my mask on and took the photo.

Because I was nervous, I accidentally gave him the impression that I was promoting my music.. Nobody likes it when people say, “Yo go check out my song, make me famous.” I made a mistake, I didn’t say what I meant. I said exactly what I was trying not to do!

At the end of the day, it was a great experience. I learnt that he’s just a human like the rest of us. Danny is a cool guy and was nice enough to at least acknowledge me. Oh and hey Danny, next time you come to Vancouver, I’m gonna have a new song on my iPod for you to listen to on the spot!!

Until next time, this was

The Masked Man.
